Champion Challenger Recall 16V295: Seats May Separate From Base in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 16V295, reported May 12, 2016, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 Champion Bus Challenger shuttle buses, built between January 29 and April 4, 2016, have seats that may separate from the base frame because of bolt failure. The seats do not meet federal school bus passenger seating and crash protection requirements.

If a crash occurs, a seat can come loose from its base, which raises the risk of injury to the person sitting in it. Owners should take this recall seriously, especially for vehicles that carry passengers.

The repair is free. Champion will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the seats at no charge. You can contact Champion customer service at 810-724-1753, extension 415, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
