Coachmen Prism Recall 16V267: Driver Air Bag Inflator May Rupture in Crash

NHTSA campaign 16V267, reported May 3, 2016, 77 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The driver's frontal air bag inflator in these vehicles can build up excessive internal pressure when the air bag deploys. This can cause the inflator to rupture and send metal fragments toward the driver and other occupants during a crash that requires air bag deployment.

A ruptured inflator could cause serious injury or death. Owners should contact Forest River customer service at 1-877-496-3691 or the Sprinter/Takata hotline at the same number. Forest River will notify owners, and the driver frontal air bag inflator will be replaced free of charge at an authorized Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner dealer. Replacement parts are not yet available, so a second notice will be sent when the remedy is ready. Check your VIN for open recalls in the meantime.
