Forest River Rockport Recall 16V205: Missing Tire Pressure Alert Can Hide Low Tires, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V205, reported April 11, 2016, 27 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

These vehicles may have been built without a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Without it, the driver will not be alerted when one or more tires are under-inflated. This fails the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 138 for tire pressure monitoring systems.

An under-inflated tire can fail, which increases the risk of a crash. Because you may not get a warning, you could be driving on low tires without knowing it.

GM, the chassis manufacturer, will notify owners. GM dealers will install the correct TPMS hardware and software at no cost. You can contact Forest River at 1-574-295-1022 or GM customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
