Tesla Model X Recall 16V192: Third-Row Seat Can Move Forward in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 16V192, reported April 6, 2016, 2,676 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 Model X vehicles built between September 29, 2015 and March 30, 2016 have a third-row seat back that may move forward under load, such as in a frontal collision. This means the vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 207 for seating systems.

If the third-row seat does not stay in its adjusted position, an occupant sitting there may face an increased risk of injury in a crash. Owners of affected vehicles should take this seriously and arrange a repair promptly.

Tesla will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the affected third-row seats free of charge. The recall began April 20, 2016, and you can contact Tesla customer service at 1-844-248-3752 or [email protected], referencing recall SB-16-13-003.
