Triumph Street Twin Recall 16V163: Fuel May Leak Into Wiring, Creating Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V163, reported March 21, 2016, 5,939 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016 motorcycles built between September 7 and November 21, 2015 may have damaged insulation on the wiring inside the fuel tank that powers the fuel pump. Fuel can then enter the wiring, travel down the harness outside the tank, and drip from the connector at the main harness.

A fuel leak combined with an ignition source, such as an electrical short, increases the risk of a fire. Owners should be alert to any sign of fuel dripping from the area near the main harness connector.

Triumph will notify owners. Dealers will inspect the fuel pump harness and replace it as needed, based on its batch number, at no cost to you. Contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010 for more information, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
