Lakota Bighorn Recall 16V153: Expanding Room May Extend While Driving, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V153, reported March 15, 2016, 15 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain recreational vehicles built between March 5 and March 20, 2015 may have screws that attach the expanding room to its sliding mechanism cable that can fail. If this happens, the room may extend on its own while the vehicle is moving, which increases the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected vehicle, contact Lakota customer service at 1-574-848-1636 to confirm your vehicle is included. Lakota will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will replace the bolts at no cost to you.

You can also check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website. Until the repair is done, follow the manufacturer's guidance and avoid driving with the expanding room in a position that could move.
