Pierce Saber Recall 16V148: Coolant Leak Can Cause Stalling and Burns

NHTSA campaign 16V148, reported March 10, 2016, 267 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2014-2016 Pierce Enforcer and Saber emergency vehicles built between March 3, 2014, and February 3, 2016, may have heater hose clamps that were installed improperly. This can allow engine coolant to leak into the passenger compartment.

Coolant reaching electrical components can short circuits and cause features to stop working, including a loss of power that may stall the vehicle and raise the risk of a crash. The hot coolant can also contact occupants and cause burn injuries.

Dealers will inspect the heater hose clamp installation, and any improperly installed clamps will be corrected free of charge. Owners can contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723 (recall number 74B269), and should check their VIN for open recalls.
