Husqvarna TR650 Recall 16V124: Motorcycle May Stall Unexpectedly, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V124, reported March 2, 2016, 1,015 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2013 and 2014 Husqvarna TR650 motorcycles, built between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013, may stall unexpectedly while being ridden. The engine can cut out without warning, which is the defect this recall addresses.

An unexpected stall increases the risk of a crash, since a rider may lose power or control at a moment when it is needed, such as in traffic or on a curve. Owners should take the issue seriously and be cautious until the problem is corrected.

The remedy for this recall is still under development, so no repair is available yet. KTM issued an interim notification to owners on August 16, 2016, and the recall began in April 2017. Owners can contact KTM customer service at 1-440-985-3553 for updates. Check your VIN for open recalls and watch for notice of the repair, which will be free at an authorized dealer once it is released.
