Chrysler 200 Recall 16V114: Passenger Airbag May Deploy Improperly in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 16V114, reported February 26, 2016, 71 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some front passenger seats in these vehicles may have had only one of two linked parts replaced during service: the occupant classification module or the seat cushion foam. These two parts are meant to be replaced together as a calibrated set. If they were not, the system that detects who is sitting in the passenger seat may not be properly calibrated.

If that happens, the passenger airbag may deploy improperly in a crash, which increases the risk of injury. Owners should contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number S09), and check their vehicle's VIN for open recalls. The repair is free: dealers will install a new occupant classification module and seat cushion foam service kit.
