Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Recall 16V102: Steering damper bracket bolts can break, risking loss of steering control

NHTSA campaign 16V102, reported February 23, 2016, 544 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-10R ABS motorcycles built between October 28, 2015 and January 18, 2016, the steering damper bracket mounting bolts may break because they were overtightened at the factory. If a bolt breaks, the steering damper bracket can detach and interfere with steering the motorcycle, which raises the risk of a crash.

Kawasaki will notify affected owners. Dealers will replace the steering damper bracket mounting bolts free of charge. If you own one of these motorcycles, you can contact Kawasaki (KMC) customer service at 1-866-802-9381, and you should check your motorcycle's VIN for open recalls.

If you own an affected motorcycle, schedule the free repair at an authorized Kawasaki dealer as soon as possible.
