Highland Ridge FW Light Recall 16V092: Wrong weight rating label can lead to overloading and tire failure

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2016 Highland Ridge travel and fifth wheel trailers, built between May 6, 2014 and August 31, 2015, may have a label with an incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating calculation. The trailer could be loaded beyond what it is rated to carry without the owner realizing it.

If a trailer is overloaded, the tires may fail, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should check whether their trailer falls within the affected build dates and models.

Highland will notify owners and provide a corrected label at no cost. The HT31RGR Highland Toy Hauler will also need two heavier axles and five larger tires installed, free of charge. Contact Highland customer service at 1-260-768-7771, referencing recall number 9904283, or check your VIN for open recalls.

Problem
Highland Ridge RV (Highland) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Highland Toy Hauler, Light, Mesa Ridge, and Roamer travel and fifth wheel trailers manufactured May 6, 2014, to August 31, 2015. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating calculation on the label may be incorrect, which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded.
Risk
If the vehicle is overloaded due to incorrect Weight Rating information on the label, tire failure may result, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Highland will notify owners and will provide a corrected label, free of charge. One model, the HT31RGR Highland Toy Hauler will require two heavier axles installed and five larger tires as well. These repairs will provided free of charge. The recall began on March 22, 2016. Owners may contact Highland customer service at 1-260-768-7771. Highland's number for this recall is 9904283.
