IC Bus CE Recall 16V090: Hood May Open While Braking, Blocking Driver's View

NHTSA campaign 16V090, reported February 17, 2016, 104 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 IC CE commercial buses built between November 24, 2014, and January 20, 2016, have hood straps that can stretch and fail to return to their original length. The straps are meant to keep the hood latched closed, but in affected vehicles the hood may open unexpectedly when the bus brakes.

If the hood opens while the bus is braking, the driver's vision can be obstructed, which raises the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Dealers will replace the hood straps at no cost to the owner. Owners can also contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 (Navistar recall number 16503), and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
