Peterbilt 365 Recall 16V066: Loose axle nuts can let driveshaft detach and cause crash

NHTSA campaign 16V066, reported February 5, 2016, 11 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2016 Peterbilt 365 and 367 trucks built between August 27, 2014, and June 5, 2015, may have hex nuts on the flange yoke of the drive axle that were not properly tightened. The axles were made by Marmon-Herrington.

If these nuts are not tightened to specification, the driveshaft can disconnect from the drive axle. That causes a loss of propulsion and raises the risk of a crash.

Peterbilt will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the torque on the nuts and tighten them if needed, at no cost to you. You can contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000, referencing recall 216-A, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
