Highland Ridge TT Roamer Recall 16V058: Trailer Safety Chains May Break, Allowing Trailer to Separate

NHTSA campaign 16V058, reported February 2, 2016, 239 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain travel trailers from model years 2015 and 2016, built between April 7, 2014, and January 11, 2016, have safety chains on the A-frame rated for 11,700 lb. The chains should be rated at least equal to the trailer's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). If the main trailer connection fails, the weight of the trailer can break these undersized chains, allowing the trailer to separate from the towing vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.

Highland Ridge RV will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the existing safety chains with chains rated at 16,200 lb at no cost to you. The recall began on February 25, 2016. If you own an affected trailer, contact Highland customer service at 1-260-768-7771 and reference recall number 9904277. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.

Highland Ridge RV (Highland) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Highlander, Mesa Ridge, Roamer, and Journeyer travel trailers manufactured April 7, 2014, to January 11, 2016.
