Lexus RX 350 Recall 16V053: Driver's Knee Airbag May Not Inflate in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 16V053, reported February 1, 2016, 5,072 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016 Lexus RX350 and RX450h vehicles built between November 16 and December 23, 2015 may have an improperly welded airbag inflator. The gas needed to inflate the driver's knee airbag can escape, so the airbag may not work as designed.

If the knee airbag fails to inflate in a crash, the risk of injury to the driver increases. Owners should not wait to act on this recall.

Toyota will notify affected owners, and an authorized Lexus dealer will inspect the knee airbag assembly and replace it if needed, at no cost to you. To check whether your vehicle is included, contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 (Toyota recall number GLA) or check your VIN for open recalls.
