Chrysler Town And Country Recall 16V044: Windshield May Detach in a Crash, Raising Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 16V044, reported January 28, 2016, 184 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some minivans built between August 2014 and December 2015 may have had their windshield installed with expired urethane primer. This can weaken the bond between the glass and the body, so the windshield could become displaced during a crash and fail to hold as designed.

If the windshield dislodges in a crash, occupants face an increased risk of injury. The affected vehicles do not meet the federal windshield mounting standard, FMVSS 212.

Owners will be notified by Chrysler, and the repair is free: an authorized dealer will replace the windshield at no charge. You can also contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
