IC Bus Cesb Recall 16V030: School Bus Stop Arm Decal May Peel, Reducing Visibility

NHTSA campaign 16V030, reported January 22, 2016, 529 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain school buses with Transpec T6000, T6100, and T7000 series stop arms may have a reflective decal that can peel loose from the stop arm. Without the decal, the stop arm is less visible to other drivers and does not meet federal school bus pedestrian safety requirements under FMVSS 131.

Reduced visibility of the stop arm increases the risk that other drivers will not notice a stopped school bus with its stop arm extended, which raises the risk of a crash involving students getting on or off the bus. Owners should contact Navistar customer service at 1-331-332-1590 or Specialty customer service at 1-800-951-7867, referencing Navistar recall number 16501. The stop arm blade assembly will be replaced free of charge by an authorized dealer. Owners can also check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
