Rosenbauer Commander Recall 16V027: Loose Axle Nuts Can Cause Driveshaft to Detach

NHTSA campaign 16V027, reported January 21, 2016, 2 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain fire trucks may have hex nuts on the drive axle flange yoke that were not properly tightened at the factory. If these nuts are not tightened to specification, the driveshaft can disconnect from the drive axle. This would cause a loss of propulsion and increases the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected vehicle, dealers will check the hex nut for proper torque and tighten it as necessary. The repair is free of charge. Owners may also contact Rosenbauer customer service at 1-651-462-1000 for more information. You can check your VIN for open recalls as well.
