Coachmen Cross Country Recall 16V015: Front tires can rub fuel fill guard and deflate

NHTSA campaign 16V015, reported January 15, 2016, 56 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016 Coachmen Cross Country vehicles built between May 26, 2015 and December 2, 2015 have a front suspension problem. As the suspension moves through its travel, the front tires can contact the fuel fill guard and become damaged, which may cause a tire to deflate.

A sudden tire deflation can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash. Owners should watch for signs of tire damage and follow the recall instructions.

Forest River will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install a revised fuel fill guard that does not contact the tires. Any tire showing signs of contact with the fuel fill guard will be replaced. All repairs are free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 10, 2016. Owners east of the Mississippi River can call Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8317, and owners west of the Mississippi River can call 1-574-825-8305. Forest River's recall number is 310-01112016-0126. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
