Blue Bird Vision Recall 16V006: Stop Arm Decal May Peel Off, Reducing Visibility to Drivers

NHTSA campaign 16V006, reported January 8, 2016, 112 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The reflective decal on certain school bus stop arms may peel loose from the stop arm. Without the decal, the stop arm is less visible to other drivers, and the stop arms do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 131, which covers school bus pedestrian safety devices.

Reduced visibility of the stop arm raises the risk of a crash, because drivers may not notice that the bus is stopped to load or unload students.

The stop arm blade assembly will be replaced free of charge by an authorized dealer. Blue Bird will notify owners. You can contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 or the stop arm manufacturer at 1-800-951-7867. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
