Foretravel Nimbus Recall 16V003: Entry Steps May Fail to Stay in Place, Risking Falls

NHTSA campaign 16V003, reported January 5, 2016, 23 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The electric entry and exit steps on certain motorhomes may have a bolt that can break. When the bolt fractures, the fan gear that drives the steps can disengage, so the steps may not stay in their expected position and may be unstable.

Unstable steps raise the risk of injury when getting into or out of the vehicle. Owners should be especially careful when using the steps until the repair is completed.

The repair is free. Dealers will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism. Owners can contact Foretravel customer service at 1-936-564-8367 or Lippert customer service at 1-574-537-8900, and can check their VIN for open recalls.
