Micro Bird G5 School Bus Recall 15V886: School bus stop arm STOP decal can peel off, reducing visibility

NHTSA campaign 15V886, reported December 30, 2015, 66 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015 and 2016 Micro Bird G5 and MB II school buses may have a STOP decal that can peel off the plastic blade of the stop arm. The stop arm is meant to be clearly visible to other drivers, and federal school bus pedestrian safety requirements (FMVSS No. 131) call for it. Without the reflective decal, other drivers may not see the stop arm as easily, which raises the risk of a crash involving children getting on or off the bus.

The affected buses were built between May 1, 2015, and December 18, 2015, and are equipped with Transpec stop arms with part numbers beginning T6000-, T6100-, or T7000-. Micro Bird will notify owners, and free repair kits will be available. Contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 for details. The recall began January 20, 2016. Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your bus is affected.
