Tiffin Allegro Recall 15V880: Motorhome Entry Steps May Become Unstable, Raising Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 15V880, reported December 28, 2015, 14,889 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The bolt that attaches the fan gear assembly to certain electric entry steps can fracture, allowing the fan gear to disengage. When this happens, the steps may not stay in their expected position and can become unstable.

Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury to people getting in and out of the motorhome. Owners should be careful using the steps and should have the repair completed as soon as possible. The remedy is free: dealers will install a retainer bracket on double step assemblies, and on trip step assemblies the Coachstep Linkage Assembly will be replaced and a retainer bracket installed. Owners can contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661 or Lippert customer service at 1-574-537-8900. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
