Prime Time Spartan Recall 15V875: Wrong tire pressure label can cause tire blowouts

What this recall means for you

This recall affects certain 2016 Prime Time trailers built between September and December 2015. The Federal placard on the trailer lists the wrong tire size (Load Range E instead of Load Range D). The tires actually installed have a lower maximum pressure than the placard states, so following the placard could overinflate them.

Overinflated tires can fail suddenly, which increases the risk of a crash. If you own an affected trailer, do not fill the tires to the pressure shown on the placard until you have confirmed the correct maximum pressure for the tires installed.

Forest River will notify owners and provide a corrected Federal placard at no charge. Contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-3001 and reference recall number 49-12182015-0124. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.

Problem
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Prime Time recreational trailers, models FHT2614X, FHT2910 and FHT2912X, manufactured September 14, 2015, to December 17, 2015. The affected vehicles may be equipped with a Federal Placard that lists an incorrect tire size of ST225/75R15 Load Range E, when the correct tire size is ST225/75R15 Load Range D. The actual tires installed on the trailer have a maximum tire pressure lower than what the placard lists and may be overinflated if filled per the placard specifications. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
Risk
Over inflated tires may result in sudden tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Forest River will notify owners and will provide a corrected Federal placard, free of charge. The recall began on February 17, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-3001. Forest River's number for this recall is 49-12182015-0124.
