Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 Recall 15V842: Bus Windows May Detach in a Crash, Risking Passenger Injury

NHTSA campaign 15V842, reported December 15, 2015, 1,222 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses, built between May 1 and August 1, 2015, have push-out tempered glass windows that may not stay attached to the bus in a crash. The windows do not meet federal requirements for bus emergency exits and window retention.

If a crash occurs, the affected windows may fail to hold occupants inside the bus, which increases the risk of injury to passengers.

Owners will be notified by Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). Dealers will modify the windows so they meet the window retention requirements, at no cost to you. You can also contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall number FL-697), and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
