Forest River Salem Recall 15V831: RV trailers may lack carbon monoxide alarms

NHTSA campaign 15V831, reported December 10, 2015, 721 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 Forest River recreational trailers (Evo, Salem, Sandstorm, Shockwave, Stealth and Wildwood models) were mistakenly built without a carbon monoxide detector. The units came with a liquid propane detector only, so occupants may not be warned if carbon monoxide levels rise inside the trailer.

Without a warning, people inside the trailer are at increased risk of injury from elevated carbon monoxide exposure. Owners should confirm whether their trailer is included in this recall.

Authorized dealers will remove the existing liquid propane detector and install a combination LP/carbon monoxide detector at no cost. Contact Forest River customer service at 1-909-873-3777, extension 53, and reference recall number 51-12072015-0119. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
