GMC Sierra Recall 15V830: Front Airbags May Not Deploy Properly in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 15V830, reported December 10, 2015, 90 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016 full-size pickup trucks may have a sensing module whose mounting stud is incorrectly positioned. Over time, the module housing can crack, allowing water to enter and cause the module to malfunction.

If the module fails, the front air bags may not deploy properly in a crash, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Owners should contact their dealer or the manufacturer's customer service line promptly.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer: the mounting stud will be repositioned and the sensing module replaced at no cost. Owners can call Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
