Strick DRY Freight Van Trailer Recall 15V825: Rear Guard Gussets Can Raise Crash Injury Risk

NHTSA campaign 15V825, reported December 8, 2015, 188 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Strick dry freight van trailers have rear impact guard gussets (parts 59653 and 59654) that do not meet federal rear impact guard requirements under FMVSS No. 223. The rear impact guard is meant to help keep smaller vehicles from sliding underneath a trailer in a rear-end collision, and a non-compliant guard can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Strick will notify owners and dealers will install reinforcements or replace the rear impact guards at no cost. Owners can contact Strick customer service at 1-704-436-2590. The recall began on February 1, 2016.

If you own a Strick dry freight van trailer from these model years, contact Strick or an authorized dealer for the free repair, and check your trailer's VIN for any open recalls.
