- Problem
- VT Hackney, Inc. (VT Hackney) is recalling certain model year 2015 Kidron Refrigerated Trailers manufactured April 28, 2015, to April 30, 2015 and equipped with certain Meritor EX225L2 or EX225L+ axles. The affected axle assemblies have caliper bolts that may not have been properly tightened, allowing the caliper mounting bolts to back out and the caliper to detach from the axle flange.
- Risk
- If the caliper detaches from the axle flange, braking performance would be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- VT Hackney will notify owners, and their dealers will inspect the caliper bolts, tightening them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 22, 2015. Owners may contact VT Hackney customer service at 1-800-763-0700.

What this recall means for you
Certain 2015 Kidron refrigerated trailers built between April 28 and April 30, 2015, have Meritor axles whose brake caliper mounting bolts may not have been properly tightened. The bolts can back out over time, allowing the brake caliper to detach from the axle flange.
If a caliper detaches, braking performance is reduced, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should not wait to have this checked.
