What this recall means for you
The engine cooling fan on certain Newmar motorhomes may separate from the fan drive while the fan is spinning. The fan can then come loose from the engine, creating a risk of injury to anyone standing near an open engine compartment.
The danger is greatest when the engine area is open while the engine is running or the fan is turning, because a detached fan can strike a nearby person. Owners should avoid working near the engine while it is running and should watch for any unusual noise or vibration from the engine area.
The replacement of the fan and fan drive system is free of charge at an authorized Spartan dealer. Owners can contact Newmar's service department at 1-800-731-8300 or Spartan Chassis at 1-800-543-4277, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
