Eldorado Aerotech Recall 15V750: Wheelchair Lift Platform May Fall Out When Doors Open

NHTSA campaign 15V750, reported November 12, 2015, 2,978 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain shuttle buses and their Ricon wheelchair lifts may have folding link arms with pivot holes that are too large. Over time, the bearings in these holes can move out of position, letting the stowed lift platform move too much and eventually fail at its mounting.

If the platform fails, it could fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, creating a risk of injury, especially to the person operating the lift. The recall also applies to vehicles that already received the 2014 recall remedy.

The repair is free. Eldorado will notify owners, and Ricon will inspect the link arms for damage or displaced bearings and check the platform for cracks, replacing any damaged parts at no charge. Contact Eldorado customer service at 1-785-827-1033 or Ricon customer service at 1-800-322-2884, and check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
