Eldorado MST Recall 15V715: Wheelchair Lift Platform Can Fall Out When Doors Open

NHTSA campaign 15V715, reported October 29, 2015, 18 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain wheelchair lifts with folding link arms may have pivot holes that are too large, allowing the bearings to move out of position. When this happens, the stowed platform can move excessively, which may cause the platform mounting to fail.

If the mounting fails, the lift platform could fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator. Vehicles that received the 2014 remedy for a similar issue are still affected by this recall.

The repair is free at an authorized Ricon dealer, which will inspect the link arms for damage or displaced bearings and inspect the platform for cracks, replacing any damaged parts at no cost. Owners can contact Eldorado National customer service at 1-909-591-9557 or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
