Newmar Canyon Star Recall 15V713: Motorhome Can Shift Out of Park Without Brakes, Risking Rollaway

NHTSA campaign 15V713, reported October 28, 2015, 93 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain motorhomes built between July 8, 2015 and September 23, 2015, an incorrect shift cable bracket and an improper shift cable adjustment allow the transmission to be moved out of PARK without the brake pedal being applied.

If the vehicle can be shifted into reverse without the brakes applied, it may move unintentionally, which increases the risk of a crash.

Owners will be notified by Newmar. The repair is free: an authorized Ford dealer will replace the transmission shift control bracket and adjust the shift cable at no charge. To check whether your vehicle is affected, contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300, referencing recall number 15S25, and check your VIN for open recalls.
