Dodge Journey Recall 15V675: Water Can Disable Braking Stability Control

NHTSA campaign 15V675, reported October 19, 2015, 275,187 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Water can enter the wiring harness for the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module and leak into the module. This can disable the ABS and/or the electronic stability control (ESC) system.

If the ABS or ESC is disabled, the vehicle may lose stability, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware that these systems help the vehicle stay under control during hard braking and on slippery surfaces.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. Dealers will seal the ABS wiring harness to keep water out, replace the ABS module, and repair the headlamp and dash wiring harness where needed. Owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
