Blue Bird Vision Recall 15V591: Engine May Stall Without Warning, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 15V591, reported September 23, 2015, 2 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 school buses built in August 2015 may have an Engine Control Module that can short circuit. When this happens, the engine can stall without any warning to the driver.

An engine that stalls unexpectedly increases the risk of a crash, particularly when the bus is moving or in traffic. Because school buses carry children, this defect is especially serious.

According to the recall notice, the affected buses have already been corrected, so no owner notification letter will be sent for this campaign. If you own or operate one of these buses, you can contact Blue Bird's customer service line at 1-478-822-2242 and ask about the recall. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
