Suzuki SX4 Recall 15V587: Power Steering Pump May Seize, Causing Loss of Steering Assist

NHTSA campaign 15V587, reported September 22, 2015, 18,673 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The power steering pump may seize because there is not enough clearance between the pump body and the power steering fluid control valve. This can cause the valve to move improperly and lock up the pump. If the pump seizes, power steering assist is lost, so steering requires much more effort at lower speeds, which raises the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free. Dealers will replace the power steering pump at no cost to the owner. Suzuki will notify affected owners. You can also contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934 and reference recall number VS. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your car is affected.
