What this recall means for you
Certain concrete mixers and refuse trucks built between August 2013 and May 2015 are equipped with Kidde plastic-valve disposable handheld fire extinguishers that may not properly discharge when the lever is pressed. The problem is with the extinguisher itself, not the truck's engine or systems.
If a fire breaks out and the extinguisher does not work correctly, the risk of injury increases, since the extinguisher may be the tool you rely on to put out the fire.
Owners should contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278 and follow the inspection instructions provided by Kidde. Kidde will replace the fire extinguishers as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on October 19, 2015, and McNeilus will notify owners directly. The recall is referenced as Kidde: CPSC 15-079.
