Honda FIT Recall 15V559: Ignition coil wires can overheat and stall the engine

NHTSA campaign 15V559, reported September 3, 2015, 17,796 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2015 Honda Fit vehicles built between December 2013 and August 2014 may have wires inside the plug top ignition coils that are damaged because they lack adequate protection against electrical noise. If these wires become damaged, the coil can overheat, which may cause the engine to stall.

An engine stall while driving increases the risk of a crash. If you own a 2015 Fit from this production window, watch for signs of an engine stall or rough running, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls on the manufacturer's site or with an authorized dealer.

Honda will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will replace the plug top ignition coils with a new design at no cost to you. You can also contact Honda Automobile Customer Service at 1-888-234-2138 and reference recall number JT9.
