Strick Van Trailer Recall 15V535: Trailer Suspension Pivot Bolts May Fail, Risking Axle Separation

What this recall means for you

Certain 2014 van trailers built between November 12, 2013 and December 9, 2013, and equipped with SAF-Holland CBX air ride suspension axle systems, have pivot bolts that may fail where the bolt head meets the bolt body. If these bolts fail, the suspension and attached axle can separate from the trailer.

Axle separation greatly increases the risk of a crash. If you own a trailer in this date range, stop using it for towing until the repair is completed, and contact Strick Trailers customer service at [email protected] or 1-704-436-2590 to arrange the remedy.

The repair is free. SAF-Holland is providing one repair kit per axle at no charge and will reimburse the owner for the labor to install the kits. This recall supersedes recall 14V-497. You can also check your vehicle identification number for any other open recalls.

Problem
Strick Trailers, LLC (Strick) is recalling certain model year 2014 Van Trailers manufactured November 12, 2013, to December 9, 2013, and equipped with SAF-Holland-brand CBX Trailer Suspension Air Ride Axle Systems. The trailer suspension has pivot bolts that may fail at the point where the bolt head meets the body of the bolt.
Risk
Failure of the pivot bolts may cause the suspension and attached axle to separate from the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Strick has notified the owners, and SAF-Holland has arranged for delivery of one repair kit per axle free of charge. SAF-Holland will reimburse the owner for the labor required to install the repair kits. The recall began September 17, 2015.
