Mack Granite (Gu) Recall 15V528: Air Brake Reservoir May Be Too Small, Risking Crashes

NHTSA campaign 15V528, reported August 18, 2015, 84 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Granite trucks built between September 24, 2011, and July 1, 2015, may have an air brake system reservoir that does not have sufficient volume. Because of this, the trucks do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 for air brake systems, and braking performance may be affected.

Reduced braking performance increases the risk of a crash. If you own an affected truck, the manufacturer will notify you directly. Do not wait for the letter if you want to act sooner.

The repair is free. Dealers will add additional air brake reservoir volume at no charge. You can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 and reference recall number SC0394. You should also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
