Pierce Quantum Recall 15V511: Headlights May Flicker in Extreme Cold, Reducing Visibility

NHTSA campaign 15V511, reported August 12, 2015, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2014-2015 Pierce Quantum and Velocity vehicles built from February 10, 2014, through January 8, 2015, have LED headlamp assemblies that may flicker when driven in extreme cold. The flickering causes the headlights to provide interrupted illumination, so the vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps.

When headlights flicker instead of staying steady, drivers may have reduced visibility of the road ahead, and other drivers may be confused about the vehicle's position or movement. Both conditions increase the risk of a crash.

Pierce will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will replace the headlamps free of charge. Owners can contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723 and reference recall number 74B264. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
