Chevrolet Cobalt Recall 15V500: Driver's side curtain airbag may fail to deploy in crash

NHTSA campaign 15V500, reported August 10, 2015, 59,474 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some vehicles may have the wiring harness for the driver's side impact sensor routed improperly inside the front door. This misrouting can cause an electrical short that disables the driver's side curtain airbag.

If the driver's side curtain airbag is disabled, it will not deploy in a crash where it is needed, which raises the risk of injury to the driver.

General Motors will notify owners, and authorized Chevrolet dealers will inspect the sensor wiring in the driver's door and make any needed repairs free of charge. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and should check their VIN for open recalls.
