Dodge Challenger Recall 15V444: Driver Airbag May Rupture and Spray Metal Fragments

NHTSA campaign 15V444, reported July 10, 2015, 88,460 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The driver's frontal airbag inflator in these vehicles can be affected by moisture getting in over time. That moisture can cause the inflator to rupture when the airbag deploys in a crash, sending metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants.

A ruptured inflator can cause serious injury or death. The manufacturer advises owners not to drive the vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the driver's frontal airbag inflator at no cost. Owners can also contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 about this recall, which Chrysler lists as R37.
