Spartan K2 Recall 15V388: Rear Axle Stay Rod Bolts May Loosen, Risking Loss of Control

NHTSA campaign 15V388, reported June 19, 2015, 144 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2016 Spartan K2, K3 and MM chassis, built between October 2, 2013 and April 2, 2015, may have fasteners attaching the stay rod (v-rod) to the rear drive axle that were installed without thread locker or tightened in the wrong sequence. Over time these fasteners can loosen.

If they do, the stay rod can disconnect from the rear axle, which may cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.

Owners will be notified by Spartan. Dealers will replace the fasteners with thread lock, tightened in the proper sequence and to the required torque, at no cost to you. To check whether your vehicle is affected, enter your VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup, or contact Spartan customer service at 1-800-582-3454 (Spartan recall number 15010).
