Kalmar Ottawa T2 Recall 15V357: Engine Oil Leak Can Cause Fire in Ottawa Tractors

NHTSA campaign 15V357, reported June 9, 2015, 22 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Excessive crankcase pressure in certain Cummins Westport ISL G engines can cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather. When this happens, engine oil may reach hot surfaces.

If engine oil contacts a hot surface, there is an increased risk of a fire. Owners should watch for oil leaks or unusual engine behavior and contact the dealer or the companies listed below with questions.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. Dealers will secure the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogram the engine control module with software that adjusts engine output under misfire conditions to limit crankcase pressure. Owners can contact Kalmar customer service at 1-785-229-6327 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-343-7357, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
