Dabryan Lincon Town CAR 120" Limo Recall 15V334: Rear driveshaft may rub body and cause fire

What this recall means for you

Certain 1998-2005 Lincoln Town Car 120" limousines built by DaBryan Coachbuilders may have a rear suspension problem. When the vehicle is overloaded or the rear suspension fails, the driveshaft can rub against the body below the rear seating area. This friction can generate significant heat and increase the risk of a fire.

Accubuilt, Inc. is providing a remedy kit that replaces the component mounted on the rear axle that is affected by this condition. Accubuilt will also reimburse up to one hour of labor for eligible vehicles built after September 1, 2004. Owners who received an interim notice mailed July 15, 2015 should still follow the remedy process; the recall began February 23, 2016.

Problem
Accubuilt, Inc. (Accubuilt) is recalling certain model year 1998-2005 Lincoln Town Car 120" Limousines manufactured January 2, 1998, to July 21, 2005 by DaBryan Coachbuilders. In certain situations, such as when overloaded or in the event of rear suspension failure, the driveshaft may rub against the vehicle body, below the rear seating area.
Risk
The rubbing driveshaft may generate significant heat, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Accubilt will supply a remedy kit to replace the current jounst component mounted on the rear axle and will reimburse up to 1 hour of labor for eligible vehicles built after September 1, 2004. Owners were mailed interim notifications on July 15, 2015. The recall began on February 23, 2016. Owners may contact Accubuilt customer service at 1-419-222-1501.
