Collins SH40 Recall 15V307: School Bus Seat Foam May Catch Fire Easily

NHTSA campaign 15V307, reported May 26, 2015, 13 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015 Collins school buses built between February 2 and April 1, 2015 have seat bottoms whose foam core may not meet federal flammability requirements for interior materials (FMVSS No. 302). If the seats are built with this foam, they may not resist catching fire when exposed to an ignition source, which raises the risk that a fire could start or spread.

If you own or operate an affected bus, contact Collins customer service at 1-800-533-1850 and reference recall number 15E032. Collins will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the seat bottoms with compliant foam at no cost to you.

You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your bus is affected.
