Utilimaster Walk-IN Van Recall 15V249: Driveshaft May Disconnect, Causing Loss of Rear Power

NHTSA campaign 15V249, reported April 28, 2015, 97 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2014 Utilimaster Walk-In Vans, built between December 8, 2014 and January 23, 2015 and altered by Lippert Components, may have driveshaft fasteners that were not tightened to the correct torque. Over time, the driveshaft can disconnect from the vehicle.

If the driveshaft disconnects, power will no longer reach the rear axle, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and have their vehicle checked promptly.

The repair is free. Spartan Motors will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will inspect the driveshaft fasteners and tighten them as needed at no charge. You can also contact Spartan customer service at 1-800-582-3484 and check your VIN for any open recalls.
