Lincoln MKZ Recall 15V248: Parking lights may be too bright, risking glare for drivers

NHTSA campaign 15V248, reported April 27, 2015, 21,435 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2015 vehicles built between February 17, 2014 and March 19, 2015, the parking lights do not dim from their daytime running light level when they are used together with the headlights. As a result, light output can exceed the limit set by federal lighting standard FMVSS 108.

Excessive light output can temporarily blind oncoming drivers, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this issue and check whether their vehicle is included in the recall.

The repair is free. Dealers will update the lighting control software at no cost to the owner. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 15C02), and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
