Hino 238 Recall 15V208: Front U-Bolts May Be Overtightened, Risking Steering Loss

NHTSA campaign 15V208, reported April 7, 2015, 1,951 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Hino trucks built in early 2015 may have front axle U-bolts that were overtightened during assembly. Over time, an overtightened U-bolt can stretch, causing it to loosen or fail. Either condition can lead to a loss of steering ability, which raises the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected truck, Hino will notify you directly, and an authorized Hino dealer will replace the front axle U-bolts at no cost to you. You can also contact Hino customer service at 1-248-699-9300 for help. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is included.
